My name is Michelle Williams. I am an Integrative therapist which means I am trained to work with a combination of Psychodynamic, Existential, Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioural therapies. The therapy will be tailored to your individual needs and your therapy journey with me can be for as long or as short a time as you feel you require.
Having received therapy support myself in the past I have some appreciation for just how challenging it can be to take that initial step and ask for help. I promise to do my best to create a safe space for you where you feel able share anything you need to in the knowledge that you will get a caring non-judgmental human response as well any practical support you are seeking to help you.
My initial training was in Therapeutic Crisis Interventions (TCI) while working for National Children's Homes as an Assistant Psychologist supporting young people struggling with abuse trauma, behavioural issues, ADHD and Autism.
I then started working for the NHS in 2009 on completion of my BSc in Applied Psychology degree working in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and then completed my Postgraduate Diploma in CBT with Canterbury Christchurch University. I am now also an examiner myself for that same course which keeps me up to date with the most recent evidence-based practices.
I also have experience working in rehabilitation treatments with addicted prisoners, supporting them in both an individual capacity and in group workshops.
In addition I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor and have worked in a Hospice supporting people with bereavement and those facing end-of-life care.
I more recently qualified as a Behavioural Couples Therapist and have been a Clinical Supervisor within the NHS for a number of years. I currently work part-time for the NHS.
I have full accreditation and registration with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
